How It Works

Valassis Digital's Retailer Spend Study uses a rigorous test and control methodology that measures across online and offline channels

1 Set up test and control groups
We carefully select test and control groups based on similar attributes such as shared location history, card purchase activity, demographics, and consumer shopping preferences.
2 Analyze card spend at targeted stores
We then leverage our card spend data to attribute the basket spend seen at all stores in a targeted area.
3 Associate user and store-level transactions
Sales are then attributed to user-level transactions observed in our comprehensive data set and associated with the stores where those transactions occurred.
4 Measure transactional lift
We measure transactional lift by observing the difference in transactions between the test users and the control users.
